About
Hi! Welcome! Thanks for scrolling by!
I’m a twenty three year old residing in the Upper West Side (upper BEST side). As a life long writer and theatre lover, I fell into the world of amateur criticism after stumbling onto an instagram page called @stoopingtheatre. With their take on the common NYC phenomenon of stooping(urban dictionary defines as: street scavenging for household goods), they created a central location for theatre lovers to help each other out with “stoopable” tickets to popular shows if the owner wasn’t able to use them. I became obsessed with trying to score free tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows this way and got connected to their app, Theatr. After becoming a fan, they announced plans to hire critics for the app, to create a reflection portion next to the resale market as a way to foster even more community.
This combination of my passions immediately made sense, though it truly had never crossed my mind before. I’ve been a dedicated theatre maker and consumer since middle school, working my way through the ranks of International Thespian Society and countless shows in high school, before ending up at Florida State University for a Bachelors of Art in Theatre. I naively focused all my pursuits to stage acting initially, but was forced to broaden my scope when the pandemic hit my sophomore year. Who was I without a stage? What else could I create? Before this, my writing stayed in the pages of my diary - I’ve kept one religiously since sixth grade. Releasing the thoughts in my head became an anchor at many points in my life and it’s been invigorating these last six months experiencing a boat load of theatre and fine tuning my taste. I prefer a new musical over the classics but I’m rarely opposed to singing or a spontaneous tap number. As an avid horror movie fan, I lean into plays that have scary and psychological elements. I adore immersive theatrical experiences. I’m truly open to attending anything and everything and feel such immense and overwhelming gratitude that I get to see so much, even when a five show week is really taking it out of me.
My current goals are to continue writing reviews and start sharing more of my narrative writing and short stories. I would love to work in a theater in the management or marketing side, as long as I keep my nights open for shows and Thursday night kickball league. One of the goals in my reviews is to share any resources for saving money on tickets. Much of Broadway is still locked behind hefty prices and left unaccessible. I try to put in every review the option for discounts, rush or lottery opportunities, and standing room for the given show or at the theater. As a theatre kid who spent hours watching bootlegs online, I acknowledge the great privilege to get to be in the room now and want that opportunity for everyone!
